REDCOR® Steel Edging Lengths

Manufactured by BlueScope Steel Australia, REDCOR® Steel Edging is an Australian Made “Corten” weathering steel that provides an organic rustic look.

Unlike other “Corten” or weathered steel products that use hot rolled imported steel, often varying drastically in quality, Formboss’ REDCOR® Steel is cold rolled and has been specifically developed for the harsh Australian climate. This process produces a cleaner product and more uniform finish then any imported alternative.

Despite its rustic look REDCOR® Steel Edging has an increased resistance to corrosion. It forms a protective layer of oxide on its surface which provides a stable rust-like appearance that regenerates as required over the life of the steel.

The raw product appears light grey and almost polished off the shelf. This is simply due to a thin film of oil that has been applied to the outer layer to slow down the oxidisation process whilst in store.
Once installed this layer will wear off however, at first creating a blotchy appearance, later evening out to create a nice and even coating of colour. This process can take anywhere from a few weeks to 4 months, however it can be accelerated by hosing down the product and wiping it with a clean cloth or rag.

The finished product will vary slightly from job to job, due to differences in soil, air conditions and climate. Colours can range from dark orange to a rich dark brown. Over time it will continue to darken until you are left with a stunning, textured brown.

REDCOR® Steel Edging has fast become our most popular range, due to its stunning appearance, durability and wide range of applications which include vegetable & garden beds, tree surrounds and even small retaining walls.
