Simpson Red Wood Chip is a Hardwood Chip dyed red. This decorative wood chip ranges from approximately 20-50mm in size.

Simpson Red Wood Chip is slow to break down, and a high quality dye is used so that it has a long lasting colour. This makes it a very popular chip for decorative use and to suppress weeds, however is not highly recommended for use in vegetable gardens because it does not break down in the soil very well.

APPLICATION

The recommended depth for applying Simpson Red Wood Chip ranges from between 50 and 100mm, depending on your main intended use.

For purely decorative purposes it is recommended to use 50mm of Simpson Red Wood Chip across the entire garden.

The minimum depth recommended for weed control and water retention is 75mm of Simpson Red Wood Chip across the entire garden.

The optimal depth for weed control and water retention is 100mm of Simpson Red Wood Chip across the entire garden, however it is not recommended that you exceed this depth as excessive mulching can suffocate the soil.
