Leaf Mulch

Leaf Mulch is a blend of fine and larger pieces of leaf litter that is mainly mulched from the wood of Gum Trees. It is available in both a composted form and a fresh form. Although the fresh Leaf Mulch often looks more decorative, the composted Leaf Mulch draws less nitrogen from the soil and therefore it is much more suitable for optimal plant growth.

Both types of Leaf Mulch are effective in suppressing weeds.

Leaf Mulch breaks down easily into the soil providing much needed nutrients to your plants. Once it has broken down it can easily be mixed through the soil to help promote drainage as well as Earthworms throughout the soil.

Due to these properties Leaf Mulch is very suitable for all plant types including vegetables.

APPLICATION

The recommended depth for applying Leaf Mulch ranges from between 50 and 100mm, depending on your main intended use.

For purely decorative purposes it is recommended to use 50mm of Leaf Mulch across the entire garden.

The minimum depth recommended for weed control and water retention is 75mm of Leaf Mulch across the entire garden.

The optimal depth for weed control and water retention is 100mm of Leaf Mulch across the entire garden, however it is not recommended that you exceed this depth as excessive mulching can suffocate the soil.

Leaf Mulch is available by the cubic metre.
