Lucerne Mulch

Lucerne Mulch is one of the premier mulches when it comes to sustainable nutrient content in your garden. Our organic Lucerne Mulch feeds your garden for up to 6 months, constantly providing it with sustainable, organic nutrients and promoting Earthworm activity. Like Sugar Cane Mulch, Lucerne Mulch breaks down easily when mixed into the soil. This enhances drainage capabilities whilst increasing the uptake of Nitrogen, as well as Potassium in the soil.

Not only do the fine pieces of Lucerne Mulch look appealing, they also effectively hold water in the soil, suppress weeds and bond together to make Lucerne Mulch a great mulch for sloping gardens.

When you take all of these factors into account Lucerne Mulch is the best possible mulch for Vegetables, and is highly beneficial to all types of plants.

Our bales of Lucerne Mulch weigh approximately 12-13kg and contain enough mulch to cover approximately 7m2 at 50mm thick.

APPLICATION

The recommended depth for applying Lucerne Mulch ranges from between 50 and 100mm, depending on your main intended use.

For decorative purposes it is recommended to use 50mm of Lucerne Mulch across the entire garden.

The minimum depth recommended for weed control and water retention is 75mm of Lucerne Mulch across the entire garden.

The optimal depth for weed control and water retention is 100mm of Lucerne Mulch across the entire garden, however it is not recommended that you exceed this depth as excessive mulching can suffocate the soil.
